| What do I use to feed the reactor? |
| We
recommend you feed the reactor using a Maxijet 1200
powerhead. You can also use a peristaltic pump, T off your
return pump or gravity feed. |
| What else will I need to operate the reactor? |
| You will need the C02
equipment and the feeding pump |
| Does the reactor includes the media? |
| No, no media is included. The 3 most common media brands are ARM (Caribsea), Korallith, And Super Gold. This is an interesting article regarding media. |
| How much media do I need? |
| Each chamber holds between 8-16lbs. depending on size |
| How is the Maxijet connected
to the reactor? |
| It is connected with
½" tubing. On the powerhead side it is
securely hold in place by a plastic clamp that
can be released easily. On the reactor it
is connected to the
quick disconnect fitting. |
| Do I need to drain the
reactor to service the maxijet? |
| No, you can service the maxijet without
draining the reactor or disconnecting any other hose/tubing than
the one for the feed pump |
|
Is the circulating pump included? |
| Yes, a QuietOne 1200 is included. You have the option to
upgrade to an Eihem 1250 pump |
|
How easy is it to service the mixing pump? |
| Very
easy. You just have to twist the powerhead motor and you
have access to the pump's impeller. You don't have to
remove any hoses or undo any connections. |
|
Do I have to empty the Reactor to service the pump? |
| Yes. But
the only time you really have to do it is when you clean the
reactor to get rid of any un-dissolved lime
residue. We have reactors working for over a year where
the pump impeller shows no sign of wear (a misconception
associated with powerhead driven Nielsen Reactors). |
|
How do I feed the reactor? |
| You
have multiple options. If you have an R/O unit you can use
float switches to activate a valve that will
feed the reactor.
You can also use a dosing/peristaltic pump drawing water
from a reservoir. A third option is to use a float switch
activating a powerhead inside a reservoir of fresh water.
